The influence of ball mill steel balls on ball mill

Ball mill steel balls are important basic parts of ball mills. Ball mill steel balls are the grinding media of ball mill equipment. The grinding effect is produced by the collision and friction between ball mill steel balls and materials. Ball mill steel balls play an important role in the mineral processing industry. Without ball mill steel balls, there is no ball mill. The two are interdependent and exist as an inseparable whole. The reason why ball mills can work well is mainly because the steel balls inside the ball mill can operate well. It is normal for ball mills to have sticking and grinding during operation. If the ball mill has sticking and grinding during operation, first of all, we should not be anxious. We should analyze the changes in the properties of the ore, the amount of ore, the amount of water, the amount of sand returned, and whether the overflow particle size is normal. After finding the cause, we should prescribe the right medicine and find the correct treatment method. The following is the method summarized by our company based on many years of experience and user feedback, which can be used for reference:

(1) First, we need to adjust the water consumption. The grinding concentration used must be strictly controlled. Too large or too small will have adverse effects. When the concentration is too high, the slurry flow speed slows down, and the impact of the grinding medium weakens. For overflow ball mills, the discharge particle size becomes coarser, while the grid ball mill may experience sticking.

(2) When sticking occurs, another measure to be taken is to reduce the amount of ore fed to the ball mill or stop feeding for a short period of time. This can reduce the workload of the ball mill and reduce the amount of ore passing through.

(3) Reasonable addition of grinding media. If the amount of medium loaded in the ball mill is insufficient, grinding media of appropriate size should be added appropriately. At the same time, the dust collection negative pressure wind can be strengthened, and some grinding aids can be added. In addition, it depends on the specific gravity, viscosity, residue and other parameters of the slurry you obtain. If the specific gravity is required to be high, there will definitely be sticking. This can be increased by using appropriate debonding agents and ratios to increase the working efficiency of the ball mill. If the viscosity of the slurry is not required, the ratio can be increased, but it is unlikely to completely avoid sticking. It depends on your requirements for specific gravity, that is, the amount of water added. It plays a huge role in mineral processing. Therefore, the preparation work before the cement ball mill in mineral processing involves the start-up procedure of the machine. If it cannot be started or it is difficult to start, it will directly affect the progress. The following introduces the reasons and measures for the difficulty of starting the ball mill.

1. Difficulty in starting 1

Reason: The medium in the ball mill equipment is agglomerated with the ore, and the center of gravity is severely punished to shift to one side of the cylinder. In this case, when driving the mill, the motor is not enough to overcome the eccentric torque, and the mill cannot be driven, resulting in overload. Measures: Open the inlet cover, enter the cylinder and use a crowbar to turn the medium and unload part of the medium.

2. Difficulty in starting 2

Reason: It may be that the three-phase load of the motor is unbalanced. The rotor of the motor is driven by the electromagnetic torque generated when the three-phase power supply passes through the stator winding. When the three-phase current passing through the stator winding is balanced, the electromagnetic torque generated is also unbalanced. If a phase current is due to poor contact or leakage of the wire joint, poor insulation of the winding, etc., the current will weaken, and the electromagnetic torque generated by this phase current passing through the stator winding will also decrease. Therefore, the ball mill is difficult to start, and the motor appears to be overloaded. Measures: Disconnect the motor from the reduction box, start the motor under no-load, check the current of each phase with a clamp ammeter, check the motor winding for the phase with abnormal current, such as using a megohmmeter to check the insulation, etc., find out the cause and start the machine after treatment.

3. Difficulty in starting three:

Reason: Because there are ore or steel balls in the feed box, for closed-circuit grinding, if the ore and steel balls spit out by the ball mill are not cleaned out of the feed box, or after the mill stops, the classifier does not stop in time, allowing the return sand to accumulate in the feed box. When starting the ball mill, the feed spoon is blocked, generating a large eccentric torque, causing the motor to overload.

Measures: To solve this problem, open the processing hole at the bottom of the feed box and clean the ore and steel balls.
